I feel like Frederick in that picture book, gathering colors, for winter is gray. This yarn is so green that it needs its own exclamation points. !! While wildly impractical for winter, it’s a little warmth against the rapidly cooling evenings lately.

Gossamer, of course, has become a lap cat again thanks to the chill in the air. Here, however, she hovered around as I blocked the shrug to give its lace pattern a little more definition. Acrylic yarn actually can be blocked. Stiff acrylic drapes better after a steaming. Pinning it out and steaming it with an iron held an inch or so away (because plastic will melt, after all) loosens the yarn and lets the lacy pattern show better.

Now I’m dreaming up a ridiculously red cardigan for late fall.
